Project HEART Press Conference

We had the opportunity to attend the Project Heart Press Conference at the Jewish Agency for Israel in NYC. Project HEART ( Holocaust Era Asset Restitution Task force) was launched in late February 2011 to help Jewish individuals seeking restitution for their family’s property in Europe that was confiscated,looted or forcibly stolen during the holocaust

At this stage,Project Heart is foucsing on identifing individuals who may have potentail claims regarding property with the ultimate goal to identifty the tools,strategy, and information necessart that will enable the Govermant of Israel,Project HEART, and its partners to secure a measure of justice for elidgible Jewish victims and their heirs.

Since project HEART was launced,details about its purpose and the applicatin process have been translated into 13 languages, and a 24 hour call center is opertional in all languages. To date, the project has recived more than 750,000 hits to its website, www.heartwebsite.org , and nearly 50,000 requests for additional information.

The press conference provided the New York Press community to learn more about the project and featured Bobby Brown Executive Director of Project HEART,Dr. Misha Galperin President and CEO of the Jewish Agency International Development Jewish Agency for Israel, James Tisch Chairman Elect- Board of Governors Jewish Agency for Israel, Live video appearance Natan Sharansky, Chairman Jewish Agency for Israel, Video message from Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of the State of Israel, Remarks by Lawrence Eagleburger,Former Secretary of State , Remarks by Esther Widman, VP of PR NACHOS and Holocaust Survivor and remarks by Menachem Rosensaft VP of The American Gathering of Jewish Holocaust Survivors and their Descendants.
