There is one word to describe the NY International Gift Fair. Amazing! As you walk through the Jacob Javitz Center you are introduced to various gifts from the latest ipad holders to watches that you slap on your wrist. I look forward to this show each year because there is always something new and interesting. As a tech enthusiast I am always looking for items to secure my equipment. One of the the coolest things I saw at the show was a bag by Built which holds all of your tech. Coming out later this year, you will be able to store your iPad,macbook, iphone in one bag that is lightweight bag.
Biking is fun and exciting but storing your bike can be difficult. The new strida 5.0 sx. You can fold it up hang it and wheel it down the street. Its new seat t makes your ride smooth and comfortable.
This show showcases large and small business. I was introduced to a company called Phd Productions Phd Productions was formed with the intention of making more flying discs. For months the design and materials were refined, with Savanna’s mom, Mindy, crocheting new designs. Since then production has been taken up in Guatemalahe Mayans of Guatemala have been weaving and crocheting bright patterns for centuries and bring a deep cultural talent for handwork to the Pocket Discs. Each village specializes in a few patterns. The patterns of a village are passed down with the generations. Through a veteran importer, Phd Productions found cooperatives of Guatemalan women to produce Pocket Discs. In return for the amazing artistry that these women add to the Pocket Disc, the women are paid a fair wage and work under good conditions. The money they make crocheting Pocket Discs and other hand-made products enables their children to go to school and helps keeps them out of poverty in a country in which 56% of people now live below the poverty level.
Another company getting some attention from media outlets have been hoopla. Hoopla is a fun and unique gift product development company based out of New York, NY.
