We had the opportunity to check out TechCrunch Disrupt 2010 in New York City. TechCrunch Disrupt is the only conference that gathers both Web innovators disrupting media and technology and also executives successfully navigating disruption to talk about turning change into opportunity. Innovation is sometimes hard to harness At TechCrunch Disrupt you can feel the energy and excitement throughout the building
We met some incredible entrepreneurs such as Pat Walsh, Founder of Stay Classy. StayClassy is an innovative social fundraising platform for nonprofits that is taking a fresh approach to revolutionizing philanthropy. This new technology gives the opportunity for nonprofits to manage their donation and events in a secure and effective manner. In many cases nonprofits spend thousands of dollars on fundraising software. Now, they can save money and help those in need more effectively. Walking through start up alley one can see that there are so many interesting and innovative companies emerging in the market today. Merel Technologies mTouch was a showstopper. The mTouch is a fully interactive multi touch table that allows users to interact with virtual objects utilizing their fingers. With the first evenr multi touch app store it is sure to be a true winner. Utilizing LED and LCD technology the mTouch brings together the future of interactive technology. One of the best parts about this product it only cost $3,200 and has an SDK. This rivals the Microsoft Surface and is much more affordable.
As you walk down start up alley you had the opportunity to vote for the best start up. With so many options this reporter had a tough time deciding. Five Finalists were selected : Betterment, MOVIECLIPS, Publish2, Soluto And UJAM. Soluto was the winner of TechCrunch and received a $50,000 grand prize. The Israeli-based startup helps people manage their computing issues. With incredible speakers such as Tim Armstrong of AOL and Jeff Bussgang of Flybridge Capital Partners attendees got an inside look in to how companies get funded and brought to market.
