Make It Happen

Posted by admin on November 4, 2013 in Spotlight |

How do you being innovative Jewish projects to the forefront? Video blogger Aaron Herman spoke with Seth Cohen of the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation about their new micro grant project Make It Happen (http://makeithappen.schusterman.org).

The #MakeItHappen site as a digital space where dreamers and doers can seed and grow new ideas that will make a meaningful difference in the world.

It is inspired by the groundswell of young people from all around the world, who are contributing their time and talent to strengthening the Jewish future and who are also drawing on Jewish values as they give back to their communities.

What if we could take advantage of new technologies to create a space where these connections could happen organically and in real time? Could we help to foster a marketplace of ideas where people could find, connect and share their ideas with each other? Could partnerships that cross cultures and continents be seeded as ideas spread and grow? And then #MakeItHappen was born.

#MakeItHappen is built on three assumptions we believe deeply to be true:

Young people do care about being Jewish. They want to find ways to engage that speak to and reflect their personal needs and interests. Jewish life is not monolithic or static, but rather a rich and constantly growing tapestry of interwoven ideas, identities and experiences. The Jewish future, and the contributions of the Jewish people in the future, will be built on the ideas of the next generation of Jewish leaders.
